Registration Fees must
be paid and all waivers submitted before your
first on-water practice. If more than one practice
session is
desired,
please include payment with registration fees.
One practice session
is included with Gateway to Health Challenge
packages and with sponsorship packages. Additional
practice sessions are $100 per hour.
Arrive to practice approximately
30 minutes before your scheduled practice time.
If possible, the team Captain should line up
the team, ready to enter the boat.
A Team Decision: Teams
must decide what to do if a paddler is late
for practice; that is, wait and the practice
is less than an hour, or leave the dock without
him/her. Your practice window is limited to
the agreed-to one hour. Another team will be
on the dock waiting for you to return.
Weather: Practice
rain or shine – no
thunder or lightening.
The decision to call off practice because of thunder/
lightening will be that of the steerspeople and
will be made by 2 PM so there is time to notify
scheduled teams. The team Captain
will be notified at that time.
Festival: Rain or shine. No
rain date.
Conduct in the Boat: You
should use your time wisely while in the parctice
boat. The
drummer and steersperson must be able to communicate
with the
team and each other at all times.
Buddy: Make certain you
know who is sitting beside you just in case you
swamp. You will be responsible
for each other’s safety until the rescue
boat arrives.
Life Jackets: Everyone must wear a life jacket
during practice and on race day.
Drummer: The
drummer should attend your team practice. He or
she will assist in setting the timing for
the team and can be an excellent source of motivation
and inspiration during practices and on race day.
A drummer is mandatory on race day.
Glasses: If you wear glasses
or sunglasses, it is best to have a band of some
kind to hold them on. |
