| St. John’s Mercy Medical Center
is in the midst of a multi-year, $500 million redevelopment
of its 73-acre campus including the David C. Pratt
Cancer Center that opened in 2003, the addition of
two floors of all private rooms for maternity patients
in 2004, and in 2006 a new Heart and Vascular Hospital
housing comprehensive cardiac services, a new emergency
department with St. Louis County’s only Level
I trauma center and a dedicated pediatric emergency
room. A new nine-level patient tower opening in 2010
will feature modern, private rooms for patients in
a variety of medical specialties, including children
in the St. John’s Mercy Children’s Hospital. In
recent months the Medical Center has been named “Best
