Where to Wear Your
Pedometer
Your pedometer should be attached
to your waistband or belt above either hip. Worn
properly, it will be able to accurately register
each step.
Reset Your Pedometer
Pressing the mode button will take you through the
menu of items on your pedometer. To reset any of the
items, when in the item mode, press and hold the reset
button until a zero shows
Set the Sensitivity
The
pedometer is most often shipped with the sensitivity
switch set in the middle position. The sensor switch on the pedometer should be
set to the
left to begin with. If you find that it is not
registering each step accurately, you can adjust it
to the middle or right accordingly.
Determine
Your Stride Length
In
order to get the most accurate count of your steps
per day, you will need to set the
stride length on your pedometer. The average
stride length is 26 inches for women and 30 inches
for men or
you can estimate stride length relative to your height
(females: height x .413 equals your stride length;
males: height x .415 equals your stride length).
To be more accurate, you are encouraged to measure
your own stride length. Here's How:
A. Enter the length of a measured distance
in feet. (20 to 100 feet)
B. Enter the number of steps it took you to walk
this distance at a normal pace
C. Divide A
by B (Divide distance by steps taken.) to get your
stride length
D. How many steps do you take in a mile? Divide 5,280
by C (Divide 5,280 by stride length.)
